Friday's Five
Starting Friday, October 30, this shop begins a small weekly ritual. Every Friday, five records come off the shelves in Prescott and get a short story each — not a sales pitch, but why this record, this pressing, this copy is worth a few minutes of your Friday.
Issue No. 1 is called Canadiana: Canada that pretended to be something else. A Toronto band the world briefly mistook for the reunited Beatles. An Ottawa punk band that opened for the Ramones. Two of the five sit in Bob Mersereau's The Top 100 Canadian Albums — Leonard Cohen's debut at No. 11, and Rush's A Farewell To Kings slipping in at No. 99 — and three were left out entirely, including, of all people, Neil Young.
The five records and their stories appear here on Friday, October 30. As always: when it's gone, it's gone.
